Welcome to St Winifred’s RC Primary School
A message from the Headteacher
On behalf of the governors, staff and pupils of St Winifred’s RC Primary School, I would like to warmly welcome you to our school website.
I am incredibly proud to be the Headteacher of the St Winifred's school family which is made up of wonderful children and dedicated and supportive staff, governors and parents. We are fully committed to the partnership of home, school and parish and, through all parties working together, our children will be sure of success. Through this joint commitment, we welcome new members to our school to grow and work in the love of Christ as we live out our mission of ‘Caritas’ or ‘God’s Love in Action’. This is evidenced in the high quality of relationships throughout our school family.
As a Catholic school, we take a holistic approach to education which focuses on developing the whole child, with Christ at the centre of all we do. However, the word 'Catholic' means 'all embracing' and St Winifred's is an extremely inclusive school, welcoming children of all faiths and none as commented upon in our recent 'Catholic School Inspection' (May 2023) which states: '...Parents spoke about the welcome the school offers to all and the high level of support which is offered thoughtfully for all, particularly those in most need...Pupils are deeply respectful of themselves and for others. Pupils speak about how they are cared for by their school and the opportunities that they have to share their care and love for others. They demonstrate respect for those of other faiths...'
At St Winifred's, we ensure that our children are encouraged, nurtured, motivated and guided, so that they develop their natural gifts and talents whilst becoming confident, ambitious and independent learners who know how to make informed decisions about the choices they make in life.
We believe that children learn best whilst having fun, as well as being actively engaged in a curriculum that is relevant to their everyday lives. Therefore, at St. Winifred’s we teach a child centred, creative curriculum with Christ’s teachings at its centre. Spiritual, moral, social and cultural education also permeate our whole curriculum. Furthermore, we encourage children at all times to share our high expectations of themselves and what they can achieve. This means that our children can reach their full potential and be fully equipped for secondary school and beyond.
If you would like your child to join our school family, we are happy to welcome you on our open days so that you can see first-hand how our mission is lived by all.
We look forward to welcoming you.
