PE and Sport Premium
St Winifred’s RC Primary School Sports Premium Funding
Since 2013, the government has provided additional funding of £150 million per annum to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools.
This funding is ring-fenced which means it can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools.
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they will have the freedom to choose how they do this.

Enrichment Opportunities
At Saint Winifred's RC Primary School we are committed to providing all children with learning opportunities to engage in Physical Education during lessons and competitions. We aim for all children to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness. Children learn the values of fairness and respect through a range of sports and activities. We follow the six School Games Values: Passion, Self-Belief, Respect, Honesty, Determination and Teamwork.
Thank you to Mr Johnston (our PE lead) for organising all of the additional enrichment opportunities which some year groups have been enjoying so far this School year.
Year 4-weekly handball lessons, Year 5- Stockport County Online safety/ football weekly sessions, Years 1 & 2 handball workshop and Years 5 and 6 lunchtime dance lessons from Natalie Woods. Lancashire GAA have also been in with Years 4, 5 & 6.
Each year group also receives input from the Stockport P.E. department throughout the year as part of our sports premium work.

George, Darcy, Jude and Mariella, from Year 3 attended a Tennis Tournament at Heaton Mersey Tennis Club, we are extremely proud of them and their tremendous effort, they were the only Year 3 pupils there, with other schools attending being from Year 4 and above.
We are proud of not only their tennis skills but they were also praised for their beautiful
manners and behaviour. Well done!
