  • Uniform Information

We ask for your full co-operation in sending your child to school suitably dressed.

Children are expected to be responsible for their own belongings in school so it is important that all items of clothing are clearly marked with your child’s name.

Uniform items, especially those with the logo, are currently obtainable from:

S.S.S. Stores, on Heaton Moor Road or

M.C.S. Stores, 220 Fog Lane, Didsbury.

S.S.S. store makes a donation to our school fund.

PLEASE practise putting on and taking off uniform with your child before they come to school, especially dressing and undressing for PE.  We are obviously there to help your child with this, but any independence with this is welcomed.  Also, children should not wear lace-up shoes (including trainers for PE) unless they can tie the laces securely themselves.  We keep PE kits in school during term time and send them home for washing at the end of term, unless they get very wet or dirty in the meantime.
Please try to remember to send them in on the first day back!

Hairstyles

Hair longer than shoulder length should be tied back for Health and Safety reasons. Hair accessories should be small and simple. Extreme hairstyles such as patterning or ‘mohican’ styles are not appropriate and we ask that you respect this.

Jewellery

Watches and stud earrings are the only items of jewellery which may be worn at school and these must be removed during P.E. and swimming lessons.

Wet Weather

Given the variability of the English weather, please ensure your child has a waterproof coat or jacket with a hood EVERY DAY.  Your child may wear wellies to come to school, and can keep them in school, but they are not suitable for wearing indoors so please bring their school shoes to change into.

Bags

Your child will need a flat book bag and should bring this to school every day.  The above suppliers sell book bags with the St Winifred’s logo.  It is a good idea to add a distinctive key ring or other small clip-on decoration to the bag so your child can identify theirs easily.  They do not need a pencil case.

Suncream

On sunny days, please put sun cream on your child before they come to school in the morning – staff are not permitted to apply sun cream. Please see your child’s class teacher if you need to discuss this.

Lunchboxes

If your child is not taking advantage of the free school meal provided to all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children, they may bring in a lunchbox of any design, clearly named on the outside.

Water

We request that all children bring in a named, transparent bottle of water to drink throughout the day – these are taken home for refilling at the end of each day.
